Laissez Faire Electronic Times 2.0

J. Orlin Grabbe put out the first issue of The Laissez Faire City Times on Nov. 1, 1997, which some think of as All Saints Day but which he knew as Nevada Day. Orlin was living in Reno, Nevada at the time. Orlin used both his own name and the pseudonym Zola, after the writer Emile Zola, a Frenchman who was known for exposing misdeeds of the government.

There were 8 issues in 1997, 44 in 1998, 50 in 1999, 52 in 2000, 53 in 2001 (there were 53 Mondays in 2001), and 6 issues in  early 2002. Basically he selected (or sometimes wrote ) the articles, read them for content, did some copy editing, and set them up initially into basic and sometimes crude html. The Publisher did the graphics, ran the web site, and paid the writers.

 Fortunately the working arrangement with the Publisher was ended as the bigger project of Laissez Faire City was eroding. This led to the birth of  The Laissez Faire Electronic Times around February 18, 2001. The Publisher of this new publication was The Digital Monetary Trust, and writers could, if they chose, have their payments made directly to their anonymous DMT/ALTA accounts.

The editorial policy remained the same as  previously followed. They published articles on freedom, finance, and the digital society, with implied emphasis on the rights of the individual.

 Existing writers for Laissez Faire City Times could have their old articles reposted at the new Laissez Faire Electronic Times web site, provided they gave permission to do so. (However, articles could not be removed from the Laissez Faire City Times web site, because the right to have them there was a condition of their acceptance and for which authors had been paid.)

Laissz Faire Electronic Times 2.0 was founded as a publishing concern that is primarily focused on the same values mentioned above. LFE2.0 is behind the preservation of orlingrabbe.com. The www.orlingrabbe.com website will never be used for monetization as long as LFE2.0 is the steward. The external links are mostly removed and anything we feel should be commented on will happen outside that domain. There is a modified links page still which is non-commercial in nature. Article submissions for the new Laissez Faire Electronic Times 2.0 is a possibility and a topic for future review. Intially I will use this space to evaluate and critique the "Complete Works of J.Orlin Grabbe" and to host email for contact, also the orlingrabbe domain will not be used to host email accounts.

Zolatimes.com [the original domain for Laissez Faire City Times ( or City Times) was something we had interest in at one time, but now we are developing the zolatimes.org domain for the Laissez Faire City Times Archive.

The zolatimes2.com domain had been acquired by [Team] Orlin and was used to forward to his LFET publication on freedom.orlingrabbe.com, but it does not seem to have been developed fully before going dark. We now have zolatimes2.com as an access point to the Laissez Faire Electronic Times Archive.

Since I will be doing the web site myself, at least initially, it will be simple and streamlined — and without the strange clutter that the Laissez Faire City Times web site seems to have acquired.
